New Job '04

Well, its been a while since there has been an update here. Mainly because I don't have a great deal to say at present.

After a year at Fish-ic I decided it was time to move on and find something with a bit more stability, and a bit more money. JobSite came through for me again after a couple of months of looking for an interesting job, competition for jobs in IT is rather high in the UK right now, and I was being fussy (ASP? No thanks. There were lots of ASP jobs.), with a position at Sophos.

Two interviews later, and a job agency contact who commented that he hadn't seen Sophos come back with a 'yes' answer so soon after an interview, and I'd been offered the position. Since then I have handed in my notice at Fish, shown my replacement around the system and am getting ready to start at Sophos on Tuesday (its a bank holiday weekend here in the UK).

Among the many advantages of this job over my previous, I'll be working with Perl instead of PHP, getting more money, and working in a team (as opposed to being sole technical guy).

Sophos appear to be continuing the tradition of kicking me out of the country as soon as I start a new job. I'll be heading off to Ireland to attend YAPC::Europe::2004.
