2.6
After a couple of false starts, I'm now running a nice shiny new Linux 2.6.6 kernel.
The upgrade gained some unexpected urgency when I bought myself a new harddisk. The sneaky people who build such devices invented a new way to connect hard disks to PCs while I wasn't looking. So having brought my new drive home I found myself wondering "This isn't IDE! This isn't SCSI! What is this?". Google soon turned up the answer, and I eventually found a company that would sell me a controller card.
The card turned up this morning, so this evening was spent (among other things) updating the kernel to one which supported the device. Tomorrow I plug the hardware in - wish me luck.
