Replacing Movable Type
That's what you get for using non-free software
, said Adam, and he's right. Mark does a good job of summing it up.
I've been looking at a few options to replace MT on this site (and the hosts I run on this server). Drupal is very nice indeed, but not idealy suited for my current purposes. I'll remember it for next time I need a heavy duty CMS. I think I'm most likely to go with Word Press or b2evolution, both of which are forks of the now undeveloped b2. My next couple of weekends are a little busy, so it will probably be a few weeks before I pick one and install it here. In the meantime MT works, even if comment spam is a pain.

Personally, I'd go with b2evolution, if you want all of the features you enjoyed with MT, and more.
b2evolution offers a very versatile anti-spam feature that allows you to not only easily block and remove spam, but also participate in a central database of known spammers, so you're protected before they hit. You also can have as many blogs and authors as you'd like, for free.
The latest release marks a significant move in the direction of an expanded and user-friendly back-office. Input from individuals who aren't directly involved in the development has been invaluable toward helping us make sure we have the best package available.
b2evolution supports more features than I could put here. Check out the summary.
Check out the main website, http://b2evolution.net, or see some use cases. We've also got an Online Demo.
And of course, there's a Movable Type migration script.
If you have any questions, feel free to email or IM me, and I'll help out however I can. Questions are always welcome on the b2evo forums.
